Besides that it's generally quiet on the ward so fingers crossed it stays that way. If you live in Beechwood (or that way) please be aware that there's been a few thefts from cars and vans in that area recently, several from unlocked cars, so lock everything up and leave nothing on display.

Aside from this there's been one or two thefts from Cherry Lodge Golf Club recently, and four men were arrested last week for 'enjoying each other's company' in the public toilets in Ashmore Lane. If you check the News Shopper website I believe two of the men have been named and shamed and fined £100.

We're also officially the safest ward in the whole of London now, with 207 reported crimes between April 2010 and December 2010, which is nice. There's several articles online regarding this too. See News Shopper / Met Police / Jo Johnson's / Richard Scoate's websites for an article. We're the nuts aren't we?

That's it for now. Take care.

After all this miserable snow, here's a story I should have mentioned weeks ago that'll cheer you all up if you're into this sort of thing. I may or may not have mentioned an arrest we made earlier in the year in Cudham Lane South on two Lithuanian men who were seen breaking into a car. When we stopped them they were carrying a sat nav that wasn't theirs so we nicked 'em good and proper. It soon turned out that the night before they had robbed and beaten up a mini-cab driver in Keston after having been driven there from Camden. They then stole his cab and dumped it locally. Anyway, I digress. They were recently charged with robbery and assault respectively. One is serving 2 years 8 months, and the other 4 months, at Her Majesty's Pleasure. Happy days.

The full article can be read on the News Shopper website here -

 http://www.newsshopper.co.uk/news/8671217.KESTON__Lithuanian_men_jailed_after_attacking_taxi_driver_and_stealing_cab/

You see, we're not just pretty faces.

Kind regards, Stevie

Recently the borough has suffered theft of copper wiring through criminals posing as engineers. They will turn up in a van and high vis jackets and remove metal covers from the pavement or work on overhead cables to steal this wiring. One resident kindly phoned me yesterday and made me aware of a telephone number you can ring, should you see any of this 'work' being done, that will put you through to legitimate electricity suppliers who can confirm the bonafides of that job. The number is - 0800 783 8866

Finally, due to a request from one of our residents, below are a list of a few useful telephone numbers should you want to call at any time. I'll attach them to every Countryside Alert from now on. I could always do with more subscribers to this mailing list, so please get your neighbours to e-mail us should these Alerts interest them.
